Hangin' in my hood

Yesterday JoLyn & I were hanging out. She wanted to eat somewhere she had never been before, so we decided to have lunch at the P & G Diner in downtown Millvale. It was cool. The diner has was kind of a throw-back to days gone by, and it's always great to hang out with my kid! After lunch, JoLyn posed next to one of the creepy decorations in the drug store part of the place.

After that, we decided to take a walk around town and check out some of the storefronts that might be open. Jerry Kitman's Furniture Store houses a bunch of very expensive furniture. It seemed really out of place in Millvale because most people in town probably couldn't afford any of it (I know I couldn't!), so I had to ask how they make it in this town. JoLyn & I had a great conversation with a guy named Brett. His family has owned the store for about 70 years, and it was interesting to hear the stories of the town and the floods from his perspective.

We continued to walk around town and check out some of the other stores in town, including Yetter's Candy Store and All About Birds. Good times learning about our mission field and hanging out with my girl!
