What a Party!

This past Thursday night our Millvale Matters group celebrated Christmas by holding a Christmas party at the Millvale Communtiy Center. While not as many people were able to attend as were able for our Thanksgiving feast (what can you expect...people's schedules are busy a week before Christmas!), we definately had a blast! We had some light snacks and desserts, and then played some games, the last one being our "White Elephant" gift exchange. Ed Domski was more than surprised to open his gift: a book called, "101 Ways to Flirt." Won't Missy be surprised when she sees it!

Last Thursday we mobilized our group in outreach to the community of Millvale. Our efforts were split initially, as part of our team had been invited to hold a Christmas party at a local home for the mentally challenged. The rest of the team planned on handing out hot chocolate & cookies on the street, but unfortunately, the weather didn't agree with us. Eventually, our first team needed more help at the home, so the rest of us were able to be a part of the fun there. The people who occupy the home were so appreciative, and seemed to enjoy themselves as we sang Christmas songs, and worked on a craft together. It was great to see their smiling faces, and hopefully we can make reaching out to this group a regular thing in the future!

One of the things I love and appreciate so much about the Millvale Matters group is that it all began with outreach. I love being a part of a group that is at it's very core of existence to reach out. I believe it resonates with the heart of God that we not keep His love to ourselves, but that we MUST share it!

For Millvale Matters, it has been a great year of doing just that - - - reaching out! During the coming few weeks, our identity will include more and more of the makings of a church, as we prepare for the August 16th launch of Element Church. I must say, I am having such a great time getting to know all of the people who are committed to making Element Church happen.

I am honored to be on the team with you guys, and here's to making a difference in Millvale!
