I love the new year! It's a time for reinventing ourselves...putting some things behind us, while looking forward to what God might have for us in the future. Every new year is full of so much optimism, in my opinion!
I've decided to read through the Bible in the Message paraphrase this year. I love the fresh language, and I look forward to seeing God's Word through a different lens.
Check out this passage I read today in Psalms 1:
"How well God must like you— you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College. 2 Instead you thrill to God’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night. 3 You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month,Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom. 4 You’re not at all like the wicked, who are mere windblown dust— 5 Without defense in court, unfit company for innocent people. 6 God charts the road you take. The road they take is Skid Row."
Good stuff. I want my year to be full of God's Word...on my mind all of the time. Always full of new life, not dead, dried-up leaves.
That said, I'm looking forward to a great 2008, how about you?
