Something that hit me between the eyes today was this:
Genesis 39
1 After Joseph had been taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelites, Potiphar an Egyptian, one of Pharaoh’s officials and the manager of his household, bought him from them. 2 As it turned out, God was with Joseph and things went very well with him. He ended up living in the home of his Egyptian master. 3 His master recognized that God was with him, saw that God was working for good in everything he did. 4 He became very fond of Joseph and made him his personal aide. He put him in charge of all his personal affairs, turning everything over to him. 5 From that moment on, God blessed the home of the Egyptian—all because of Joseph. The blessing of God spread over everything he owned, at home and in the fields, (*bold & italicised emphasis mine)

2 Things:
1) God was with him! - In all of it...good, bad, and ugly...God didn't forsake him. Instead, he made Joseph a success, wherever he went! The same for when he later ends up in prison. My question to you - Are you taking God with you when you go to work or school? Let's face it, you can't hide from God ---He's there anyway, we might as well represent Him, right? We never go wrong in letting God's light shine through us.
2) God made him a blessing to others - The hand of God was on everything Joseph did. People saw it, and put him in charge. Those people saw God not only bless Joseph, but bless them, as well. Are you a blessing to the people around you? Can your employer count on you? How about your friends, or other students? I want to be the kind of worker that my boss knows he will find excellence and the hand of God on all that I do. How about you?
