One of the highlights for me this past week in Charlotte, was the opportunity to visit the Billy Graham Library. What was it like? Well, imagine Hershey's Chocolate World meets legendary preacher-man. I don't know why they called it a library, though...it seemed more like a museum with a bookstore.
It really was very cool to hear his story, and to see so much of the pieces of memorabilia from his life experiences. One of the items was a check from former President Nixon. It seems that once while at a crusade, the Pres forgot to bring money for the offering, and asked Rev. Graham for a loan. The check was in reimbursement, and came with a letter of thanks, as well as a pledge to sed royalties from his book to support Billy Graham's ministry.
Another interesting artifact that I saw was a picture and handwritten poem about Rev. Graham presented to his wife, Ruth, from Bono, the lead singer of U2.
