Monday morning, we left at the evil 6 o'clock (6 AM to some of you) only to arrive in Charlotte, NC come 9 or so hours later! Really, it was a good trip, from a travel standpoint, but everyone was tired when we finally arrived. After registration at the convention center, we checked-in to our hotel and got ready for dinner. There's a steakhouse down the street that was rumored to have all-you-can-eat steak, so Dick Urey wanted to give it a try. However, not all rumors are true! Alas...the claims of never-ending steak were unmerited!
So, I called my friend Chris who lives here in Charlotte. Chris suggested we try a restaurant named, "Mac's" for some southern BBQ magic. That's all I needed to hear, so we headed over to Mac's. GREAT FOOD, and tons of it! I even bought some of the sauce to take home! (I know the pic says, "Beer-Bikes-BBQ" but I promise...all we had was the BBQ!)After dinner we needed to find a spot to rehearse for Garbonics, so we practiced right in the abandoned parking lot across from the restaurant. So cool to hear the "drums" outside in the open. Several people came to watch the students, and see what was going on.
After that, Wal-Mart and then back to the room for dinner. In all, a good, but long day.
