Convention & District Fine arts

Youth Convention '08 was great. We had an awesome time as a youth group. Not only were the services great, and not only did our students seem to connect with the speaker and worship band, but it was great to develop deeper friendships with the students in our group. It was a great weekend!

In conjunction with the convention, 13 of our students participated in the District Fine Arts Festival. I was so proud of each of our students participated in the festival, but it is especially gratifying to say that all 13 of them have advanced to qualify for the National Fine arts Festival in one event or another!
My oldest daughter, JoLyn, advanced in both of her events, and I am proud of her boldness on the stage in sharing Christ in both drama and in the percussion group events. (This picture is of her receiving congrats from our District Youth Director, Pastor Doug Sayers, on the "big stage" at the convention center. It's a poor photo, but still a moment she'll remember forever. Great job, kid!) At her age, I was so timid, I don't think I would have tried either category!

I'm not going to list all of the participants names below, but just the same, I am very proud of each of them. Check out a few of the pictures I took at the awards ceremony:
